The sketchbook includes many inscriptions throughout of titles, dates, and notes by the artist. There are also personal memoranda on the back endpapers, and the artist's signature on front and back endpapers. On f.43 is a later pencil inscription "To E...? / from / E...? B...? / grandaughter / to von Guerard"
Sketches are chiefly titled, and dated.
