  Offered for sale at Lawson's Fine Paintings and Drawings Sales, 18 September 1984, lot 24. Purchased by Mr D. Cornes.
  
  Mitchell Library file notes (ML 1857/84) prior to the Lawson's sale describe the condition of the work: paint surface crazed, with damage centre left. The work appears to have been conserved before 'The artist and the patron' exhibition in 1988.
