Sept. 1820; Coloured broadsheet featuring cartoon entitled 'The Black Joke!! or, the Jew Harper and Demi-rep Countess, alias, the Amorous Chambermaid, in her Cabin, on board the Polacre'. Published by John Fairburn, Broadway, Ludgate Hill. This cartoon was once mistakenly considered to represent Isaac Nathan and Lady Langford. However, it relates to the famous trial of Queen Caroline in 1820. The woman was the so-called 'Countess Colombiere', a Swiss chambermaid to Queen Caroline, and the 'Jew Harper' was a wandering musician who boarded the Polacre, the vessel in which Caroline was touring the Mediterranean. Clarke (aunt of Lilian Foulis), containing extracts from 'The Southern Euphrosyne' by Isaac Nathan and from an article about Isaac Nathan in 'The Australian' newspaper 7-9-1841, transcriptions of various letters to and from Isaac Nathan, translations of Isaac Nathan's two marriage certificates, and a Poniatowski family tree.
