  Portrait can be identified as Harriet King after comparison with other portraits of her in the Mitchell Library collections, cf.: ambrotype at ZMIN 174 and a carte-de-visite at PX*D 276/20
  Portrait descended to previous owner via King family members
  At PXn 880 is a copy of a photograph held in Pic.Acc.953, which shows the portrait in what appears to be its original frame. The frame was missing when it came into the possession of the vendor.
